My Story

What Swinton Lock means to me

I was failed as a child and after recent court proceedings leading to the conviction of six CSE perpetrators I believe I was failed again with the help being offered to me withdraw suddenly and without any explanation.

I came to Swinton Lock 8 months ago – here they saw something in me no one else did.

The Lock has helped me raise money to pay for private treatment which is helping my healing process. The Lock has really helped my recovery process in other ways. I don’t know what I would have done without the staff here. I feel safe

As a professional adult I found it hard to find support that I can access but the Lock has been more than adequate in providing me with specialist treatment to deal with the mountain of a task I have in front of me.

All the other survivors help me understand that I wasn’t the only girl that was left to fend for herself and then made to believe that it was our fault.

Being around other survivors - this is therapy in itself.

Also being able to put together our collective ideas on how to change the way we were treated to try to improve the system – this is now one of my maindrives in life. Swinton Lock is helping me achieve this.

Swinton Lock – it’s my saviour.
